Compared with the top conventional systems, these systems do not have the same level of humidity management and may require an auxiliary dehumidifier in the property design. The dehumidifier becomes another machine to maintain, repair and, at some point, replace. Coupled with dehumidification, these systems often offer the best of all scenarios – from comfort to efficiency.

VRF is the most widely used term for these types of systems. VRF was introduced to the HVAC commercial building market in the early 1980s in Japan. Since then, the VRF market has expanded its global presence to Europe in the early 1900s and to the United States in the early 2000s.
